UEFI diagnostic program
A UEFI diagnostic program is pre installed on the computer. It enables you to test memory modules and internal storage devices, view system information, and check and recover bad sectors on internal storage devices.
To run the UEFI diagnostic program, do the following:
1. Turn on the computer.,
2. When the Think Pad logo is displayed, repeatedly press and release the F10 key. The main screen of the UEFI diagnostic program is displayed.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen to use the diagnostic program

Bootable diagnostic programs
If the computer you are servicing is not installed with the UEFI diagnostic program, you can download a bootable diagnostic program from the Lenovo Support Website. The bootable diagnostic programs enable you to test computer memory and internal storage devices, view system information, and check and recover the internal storage devices. To use the bootable diagnostic programs, you can create a bootable diagnostic
medium on a USB device or CD.
To create a bootable diagnostic medium, do the following
1. Go to Lenovo web
2. Click Lenovo Bootable Diagnostics.
3. Follow the instructions on the Web site to create a bootable diagnostic medium on a USB device or CD.
To use the diagnostic medium you have created, do one of the following:
# If you have created the bootable diagnostic medium on a USB device, do the following:
1. Attach the USB device to the computer.
2. Turn on the computer.
3. When the ThinkPad logo is displayed, repeatedly press and release the F12 key. When the Boot Menu window opens, release the F12 key.
4. Use the arrow keys to select USB HDD and then press Enter. The diagnostic program will be launched automatically.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen to use the diagnostic program.
# If you have created the bootable diagnostic medium on a CD, do the following:
1. Turn on the computer.
2. Insert the CD into the optical drive.
3. Restart the computer.
4. When the ThinkPad logo is displayed, repeatedly press and release the F12 key. When the Boot Menu window opens, release the F12 key.
5. Use the arrow keys to selectATAPICDx (x: 0, 1, ...) and then press Enter. The diagnostic program will be launched automatically.
6. Follow the instructions on the screen to use the diagnostic program.
Power system checkout
To verify a if a battery pack and an an power adapter is functional, do the following:
1. Turn off the computer.
2. Connect the ac power adapter.
3. Turn on the computer. If the computer can be turned on, it means that either the battery pack or the ac power adapter is functional.
4. Insert a straightened paper clip into the emergency reset hole to reset the computer. If the computer is still powered on, it means that the ac power adapter is functional.
5. Turn off the computer.
6. Disconnect the ac adapter and turn on the computer. If the computer can be turned on, it means the battery pack is functional
Checking the ac power adapter
You are here because the computer fails only when the ac power adapter is used.
# If the power-on indicator does not turn on, check the power cord of the ac power adapter for correct continuity and installation.
To check the ac power adapter, do the following:
1. Unplug the ac power adapter cable from the computer.
2. Measure the output voltage at the plug of the ac power adapter cable. See the following illustration:

Note: Output voltage of pin 2 of the ac power adapter might differ from the one you are servicing.
3. If the voltage is not correct, replace the ac power adapter.
4. If the voltage is acceptable, replace the system board.
Note: Noise from the ac power adapter does not always indicate a defect.
Checking operational charging
To check whether the battery charges properly during operation, do the following:
Note: Before you begin, install a discharged battery pack or a battery pack that has less than 50% of the total power remaining in the computer.
1. If the battery status indicator or icon does not turn on, remove the battery pack and let it return to room temperature.
2. Reinstall the battery pack.
3. If the indicator still does not turn on, replace the battery pack.
4. If the indicator still does not turn on, replace the system board.
Checking the battery pack
# For  7: Open the Power Manager program and click the Battery tab.
# For  8: Open the Lenovo Support program and click Battery Health, or open the Lenovo
Settings program and click Power.
Checking the backup battery
To check the backup battery, do the following:
1. Disable the built-in battery.
2. Remove the backup battery.
3. Measure the voltage of the backup battery. See the following illustration.

# If the voltage is correct, replace the system board.
# If the voltage is not correct, replace the backup battery.
# If the backup battery discharges quickly after replacement, replace the system board.
Restoring the factory contents by using Recovery Disc Set
When the main storage drive is replaced because of a failure, no product recovery program is on the new drive. In this case, the customer must use the Recovery Disc Set to recover the computer. Order the Recovery Disc Set and the drive at the same time so that the customer can restore the computer to the factory default settings by using the Recovery DiscSet after the new drive is installed.
Depending on the model,the number of recovery discs included in the Recovery DiscSet differs. To restore the factory contents by using the product Recovery Disc Set, do the following:

# During the recovery process, all data on the drive will be deleted. If possible, copy any important data
or personal files that you want to keep onto removable media or a network drive before you start the recovery process.
# The recovery process takes one to two hours to complete. The length of time depends on the method you use. If you use product Recovery Disc Set, the recovery process takes about two hours.
1. Connect an external CD/DVD drive.
2. Make the CD/DVD drive the first startup device in the startup sequence using the following procedure:
a. Open the ThinkPad Setup program and select Startup > Boot.
b. Select the CD/DVD drive as the 1st Boot Device.
3. Insert the bootable recovery disc into the CD/DVD drive.
4. Start the computer from the external CD/DVD drive.
5. When promoted, select your language and click Next.
6. Read the license and accept the terms and conditions. Then follow the instructions on the screen.
7. If the Recovery Disc Set contains Supplemental Recovery Disc,insert it when prompted and click Yes.
Note: Not all Recovery Disc Sets come with a Supplemental Recovery Disc. If there is a Supplemental Recovery Disc, it will be clearly marked as such.
8. When all of the data has been copied from the last disc in the set and has been processed, remove the external CD/DVD drive and restart the computer. Follow the instructions on the screen to finish the recovery.
Note: The rest of the recovery process is fully automated and no action from you is required. The computer will restart into the Microsoft Windows desktop several times and you might experience periods when no activity is apparent on the screen for several minutes at a time. This is normal.
9. When the recovery process completes, the Welcome to Microsoft Windows screen is displayed. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the Windows setup.
10. After you have completed the Windows setup, you might want to restore the original startup sequence. Start the ThinkPad Setup program and then press F9 to restore the default settings. Press F10 to save changes and exit the ThinkPad Setup program.
Note: After restoring a drive to the factory default settings, you might need to reinstall some device drivers.
Hard disk password
There are two kinds of hard disk passwords:
• User hard disk password-for the user
• Master hard disk password-for the system administrator,who canuse it to get access to the hard disk even if the user has changed the user hard disk password
Note: There are two modes for the hard disk password: User only and Master + User. The Master + User mode requires two hard disk passwords; the system administrator enters both in the same operation. The system administrator then provides the user hard disk password to the system user.
Supervisor password
A supervisor password protects the system information stored in the ThinkPad Setup. The user must enter the supervisor password in order to get access to the Think Pad Setup and change the system configuration.
How to remove the power-on password
To remove a power-on password, dothe following:
If no supervisor password has been set,do the following to remove the power-on password:
1. Turn off the computer.
2. Remove the battery pack.
3. Remove the backup battery.
4. Reinstall the backup battery.
5. Reinstall the battery pack.
6. Turn on the computer and wait until the POS Tends. After the POS Tends, the password prompt does not appear. The power-on password has been removed. If a supervisor password has been set and is known to the service technician, do the following to remove
the power-on password:
1. Turn on the computer.
2. When the ThinkPad logo comes up, immediately press F1.
3. Type the supervisor password to enter the ThinkPad Setup program.
4. Select Security.
5. Select Password.
6. Select Power-On Password.
7. Type the current supervisor password in the Enter Current Password field. then leave the Enter
New Password field blank, and press Enter twice.
8. In the Changes have been saved window, press Enter.
9. Press F10 to save changes and exit the ThinkPad Setup program.
How to remove the hard disk password
To remove a user hard disk password that has been forgotten, when the supervisor password and master hard disk password are known, do the following:
1. Turn on the computer.
2. When the ThinkPad logo comes up, immediately press F1 to enter the ThinkPad Setup program. When the power-on password icon is displayed on the screen, enter either the power-on password or the supervisor password.
3. When the user hard disk password icon is displayed on the screen, press F1. The master hard disk password icon is displayed.
4. Enter the master hard disk password to enter the ThinkPad Setup program.
5. Select Security.
6. Select Password.
7. Select Hard-disk x password, where x is the letter of the hard disk drive. A pop-up window opens.
8. Select Master hard disk password.
9. Type the current master hard disk password in the Enter Current Password field. Then leave the Enter New Password field blank, and press Enter twice.
10. Press F10.
11. Press F10 to save changes and exit the ThinkPad Setup program. The user hard disk password and the master hard disk password have been removed.

Q. How do I lubricate my treadmill?
A. At the back of the running deck (opposite end to the computer) on each side there are two Allen head bolts.
Turn these bolts anti-clockwise five full times to release belt tension. Lift the edge of the treadmill running belt approximately 30 to 40cm from the front roller. Apply 10ml of oil to the underside of the running belt from front to back. Tighten the bolts five turns clockwise to set tension. After Application Power your treadmill up to 6mph/10kmh for 5-10 minutes. Wipe any excess oil away. If needs be repeat for a second time.
Q. How often should I lubricate my treadmill?
A. It’s essential you do not over lubricate your treadmill as this will cause the running belt to slip. Your treadmill will need to be lubricated on a regular basis dependent on usage. For example, 3-5 times a week lubricate every 8-10 weeks. For less frequent use lubrication must be carried out at least every 3-4 months.
Q. What kind of lubricant is required for my Treadmill and where can I purchase this?
A. The lubricant is a non-petroleum based silicone oil.
Q. What should I do if the belt stops when I am walking on the Treadmill?
A. If the belt stops while you are walking on it and starts again when you step off, check the tension between the walking belt and board. The belt should lift 3-4" off the board. If the tension is fine, let the machine run by itself for a few minutes longer than your last workout. If the belt maintains its speed, the walking belt may be worn or lacking lubrication.
Q. How do I adjust / tighten the running belt on my treadmill?
Two-adjustment bolt version: If the walking belt has shifted to the left, first remove the safety key and unplug the power cord. Using the Allen wrench, turn the left rear roller adjustment bolt clockwise, and the right bolt counterclockwise, 1/4 of a turn each. Be careful not to over tighten the walking belt. Plug in the power cord, insert the safety key and run the treadmill for a few minutes. Repeat until the belt is centered.
If the walking belt has shifted to the right, first remove the safety key and unplug the power cord. Using the Allen wrench, turn the left rear roller adjustment bolt counterclockwise, and the right bolt clockwise, 1/4 of a turn each. Be careful not to over tighten the walking belt. Q. What is the safety key for and where does it go?
A. The safety key is a red plastic key that should be inserted into the front of the computer when using the treadmill, this is an automatic cut off so if you have any problems or get into any difficulties you can pull the key out to stop the machine. The treadmill will not work without this key being inserted.
Q. On my Performance Range Treadmill can I change the display from Miles to KM?
A. Yes. Switch the power on and insert the safety key. When the console power is on press and hold the ‘INCLINE-DOWN’ and ‘STOP’ buttons for 3 seconds.
Choose the km/ml conversion program. The computer will display “MI” or “KM”. Press the SPEED UP or DOWN button to select between “MI” or “KM” and then press ENTER.
Q. Is there a maximum user weight for my treadmill?
A. There is a maximum user weight with all of our treadmills. The maximum user weight for your machine can be found within the user manual.
Q. Black dust is starting to appear under my treadmill, why is this?
A. Occasionally black dust can start to appear under your treadmill. This is due to normal wear and tear. You can remove the dust easily with a vacuum cleaner. If you want to keep the dust away from the floor we would recommend you place your treadmill on a protective mat.
Q There is no reading from the heart rate strap, why is this?
A. 1) Make sure the logo on the sensor is facing forward and is the correct side up.
2) Use saline solution (saliva or contact lens solution) to wet the two electrode areas on the sensor unit. If the heart rate readings do not appear until you begin perspiring, re-wet the electrode areas.
3) Position the heart rate monitor under your clothing, against your skin, and under the pectoral muscles. If the heart rate monitor does not function when positioned as described, try moving it slightly lower or higher on your chest.
4) As you walk or run on the treadmill, position yourself near the center of the walking belt.
5) The heart rate monitor is designed to work with people who have normal heart rhythms. Heart rate detection problems may be caused by medical conditions such as premature ventricular contractions (pvcs), tachycardia bursts, and arrhythmia.
6) The operation of the heart rate monitor can also be affected by magnetic interference caused by high power lines or other sources. If you suspect that magnetic interference may be causing a problem, try relocating the treadmill.
7) If the heart rate monitor still does not function properly, test it by having another person try it.

What to look at
Price: Not all elliptical trainers are created equally. The design, mechanics, and quality of elliptical machines will vary from one fitness equipment company to another and from one model to another. How much should you expect to spend on an elliptical trainer? For a decent, dependable elliptical trainer, expect to spend at least $1,000. The quality of elliptical machines that cost less is questionable. Cheaper models are often noisy and wobbly. After all, the less expensive the elliptical trainer, the cheaper the components used to put it together. Chances are great that these lower-end models will require constant maintenance, and their life spans will be rather short. Moderate exercisers might be able to get by with a decent low-end model. More intense athletes, on the other hand, really need a heavier, more durable machine. Keep in mind that the more you can spend on an elliptical trainer, the higher the quality you will get. Generally, you’re better off spending a little more money to get a better quality machine.
User Weight: Before you purchase an elliptical trainer, be sure to consider all of those in your household who will be using the machine. What is the weight of each user? What are the fitness goals of everyone who plans to exercise on the elliptical trainer? The maximum user weight capacity set by the manufacturers of elliptical trainers is intended as a guideline to help you determine which models will provide safe and trouble free workouts for all users in your home.
Front-Drive VS Rear-Drive Elliptical Trainers: Some elliptical trainers have rear-drive flywheels. Others have front-drive flywheels. Which style is best? To answer this question, sought the expertise of someone who has been in the fitness equipment industry for about 15 years.

Components:
Ball Bearings VS Bushings: When choosing an elliptical trainer, you’d do well to go with one that has ball bearings at the pivot points rather than one that has bushings. Elliptical trainers which have bearings at the pivot points instead of bushings will be more reliable and durable. Bushings will squeak and break down over time. It is also good to know the difference between standard bearings and sealed bearings.
Standard bearings are open and are susceptible to dirt. They need to be greased frequently.
Sealed ball bearings are protected from air and dirt and require no lubrication. Sealed, self-aligning bearings are preferable. (Self-aligning bearings adjust the alignment with the motion of the machine and provide a smoother ride.)
According to a knowledgeable source, “Sealed, self-aligning bearings require no maintenance and extend the durability of the machine longer. This is important, because taking care of your elliptical trainer should not be harder than your exercise.”
Brake Resistance Systems: Another thing to consider when shopping for an elliptical trainer is the type of brake resistance on the machine. Does it have an electromagnetic resistance brake, a magnetic resistance brake, or a self-generating induction brake?
Electromagnetic brake resistance is best because it is electronic and has no moving parts to break down, thus reducing the possibility of service issues. This type of resistance is typically found in higher end units. “I haven’t seen one fail in 15 years,” stated our fitness equipment expert. Lower end models have magnetic brake resistance. Although this type of resistance is not as reliable as electromagnetic resistance, it has proven itself as a lower cost alternative for residential settings.
A few commercial-quality models have a self-generating induction brake. Such machines have no motors and require no electrical power, thereby reducing the risk of maintenance issues.
Foot Pedals: What type of foot pedal is most desirable on an elliptical trainer? The choice you make can be a huge factor in determining your comfort level and the efficiency of your workouts.
Articulating pedals are by far more comfortable than non-articulating pedals, because the feet are able to remain flat. As a result, pressure is taken off the ball of the foot and distributed throughout the entire foot. With non-articulating pedals, the ball of the foot absorbs most of the pressure, which often results in numbness. Frame: Small elliptical trainers are rather popular for several reasons. First, they take up less space than bigger models, so they are more practical for people who live in small houses or apartments. Secondly, they weigh less and are easier to move around than the larger, heavier elliptical trainers. Some smaller models even have wheels to make transport from one place to another easier. The cost factor is another reason why small elliptical machines are popular. The smaller machinery typically cost less than the bigger ones.
On the down side, elliptical trainers with smaller and lighter frames are apt to have more issues than the larger, more expensive ones. They are not designed for high intensity exercise, and they definitely will not be as stable as heavier ellipticals (This means that the maximum user weight capacity will be less). The stride on a smaller unit will be shorter and inadequate for tall individuals.
Larger, heavier frames are made of higher quality materials, such as strong steel rather than aluminum. However, they DO take up more space, and they ARE heavier to move. Once you get one of these elliptical trainers set up, you probably are not going to want to move it. When you choose an elliptical trainer, you want to make sure that it has the features you desire and need to reach your fitness goals. Below is a list of features that you might want to consider when choosing an elliptical machine:
# Built-in Workout Programs: Ideally, you’ll want an elliptical that has at least a weight loss program and an interval training program. These programs are used in health clubs by personal trainers and have seen proven results. # Built-in Heart Rate Monitor: Heart rate monitors are standard on most elliptical trainers…even the low-end models. There are a couple of types of heart rate monitors. # Heart Rate Control: Having a built-in heart rate control on an elliptical trainer is like having a personal trainer to monitor your pace and keep you working in a desired training zone, such as fat burning. After you choose a training zone, the heart rate control will automatically adjust the resistance to keep you working in that particular zone.
# Backlit LCD or LED Display: The display on the console of an elliptical trainer lets you program your workouts and keep track of your progress during each exercise session. Backlit LCD displays are more attractive and easier to read than LCD displays that are not backlit. Nowadays, backlit LCD displays are often equal in quality to LED displays. If you are of average height, LCD displays will seem clear to you. If, however, you are taller or shorter than average, an LED display may be a better choice. LED displays are easier to read at any angle.
# Adjustable Resistance: Most elliptical trainers built in the U.S. measure resistance in levels. Other elliptical trainers measure resistance in wattage. Wattage gives the actual value for resistance and is, therefore, more accurate than resistance levels. Nevertheless, even when resistance is measured in levels, being able to adjust the resistance level allows you to control the intensity of your workouts. The more intensity levels found on an elliptical unit, the more adjustability the user has.
# Stride Length: Low end elliptical trainers are smaller and have shorter stride lengths (around 16”). If you are short, the shorter stride lengths will probably feel comfortable to you. After all, you don’t want to over-stretch and risk pulling a muscle. A stride length of 18” to 21” is generally perfect for someone of average stature or above.

Incline Ramps: An adjustable incline ramp lets you change the angle at which you exercise, so as to work muscle groups in different ways. By increasing the incline, you can work at a more challenging, higher intensity level. On the downside ramps often incorporate a roller system which requires maintenance and may loose its smooth feel over time.
Variable Strides: An elliptical trainer with a variable stride feature is a great option for households that have multiple users. Each user can adjust the stride to accommodate his or her height. The stride can also be changed in order to focus on a certain part of the lower body. At a shorter stride, your thighs and calves will be targeted more. At a longer stride, you can better target your glutes and hamstrings.

As previously mentioned, front-drive machines generally require more maintenance than rear-drive elliptical trainers. Front-drive models use tracks that can get dirty, and they have more components to break down.
Cleaning: As the wheels move up and down the tracks of a front-drive elliptical, dirt can accumulate on the wheels and the track. This dirt can cause the motion to be rough and jerky. Regular cleaning is required to keep these surfaces free of dirt. Most rear-drive elliptical trainers do not use the wheel/track system. Instead, these models have a floating system that uses free-rolling bearings. There are fewer components to maintain and no tracks or wheels to keep clean.
Tighten and Lubricate: To keep any elliptical trainer operating smoothly and efficiently, be sure to tighten any loose bolts and screws. (Be sure to check for loose bolts and screws if you hear any unusual, loud noises.) Also, routinely lubricate every moving part.
Avoid Misuse: Be sure that your elliptical trainer is large enough and strong enough to accommodate the needs of all users in your household. Pay close attention to the maximum user weight! If any users exceed the maximum user weight, excess stress on the machine may result in undue wear and tear.
Repairs: If you have a major problem with your elliptical trainer that you cannot resolve yourself, contact a qualified repairman to fix the problem.

Service Mode Function
MPU controls the functions switching for each IICs through IIC bus in this chassis. The following setting and adjustment can be adjusted by remote control in Service Menu
How to enter into Service Mode
While pressing [VOLUME ( - )] button on the main unit, press the [RED] button on the remote control for 3 times within 2 seconds.
How to exit
Switch off the power with the [POWER] button on the main unit or the [POWER] button on the remote control.
Key Command
# Press the 3/4 button to change the adjustment values or function.
# Press the 1/2 button to step up/down through the functions and adjustments
# Press the numerical button VOLUME (+/-) to change of each option item.
# Press the OK button after each adjustment has been made to store the required values.
Service Tool Mode
How to access
1. Select [SRV-TOOL] in Service Mode.
2. Press [OK] button on the remote control.
Display of SOS History
SOS History (Number of LED blinking) indication.
From left side; Last SOS, before Last, three occurrence before, 2nd occurrence after shipment, 1st occurrence after shipment.
This indication will be cleared by [Self/check indication and forced to factory shipment setting].
Power ON Time, On/Off
Note: To display TIME/COUNT menu, highlight position, then press MUTE for 3sec.
Time: Cumulative power on time, indicated hour: minute by decimal.
On/Off: Number of On/Off switching by decimal.
Note: This indication will not be cleared by either of the self-checks or any other command.
Exit
Disconnect the AC cord from wall outlet or switch off the power with [Power] button on the main unit.
Hotel Mode
Access command to the Hotel mode setup menu. In order to display the Hotel mode setup menu, please enter the following command (within 2 second). [TV] : Vol.[Down] + [REMOTE] : AV (3 times)
To exit the “Hotel mode”: Switch off the power with the [POWER] button on the main unit or the [POWER] button on the remote control.
Data Copy by USB Memory
Preparation
Make pwd file as startup file for (a) or (b) in an empty USB Memory.
1. Insert an empty USB Memory to your PC.
2. Right-click a blank area in a USB Memory window, point to New, and then click text document. A new file is created
by default (New Text Document.txt).
3. Right-click the new text document that you just created and select rename, and then change the name and
extension of the file to the following file name (a) or (b) and press ENTER.
File name:
(a) For Board replacement: boardreplace.pwd
(b) For Hotel: hotel.pwd
Note:
Please make only one file to prevent the operation error.
No any other file should be in USB Memory.
Data Copy from TV set to USB Memory
1. Turn on the TV set.
2. Insert USB Memory with a startup file (pwd file) to USB Terminal.
On-screen Display will be appeared according to the startup file automatically.
3. Input a following password for (a) or (b) by using remote control.
(a) For Board replacement: 2770
(b) For Hotel: 4850
Data will be copied from TV set to USB Memory.
It takes around 2 to 6 minutes maximum for copying.
4. After the completion of copying to USB Memory, remove USB Memory from TV set.
5. Turn off the TV set.
Note:
Following new folder will be created in USB Memory for data from TV set.
(a) For Board replacement: user_setup
(b) For Hotel: hotel
Data Copy from USB Memory to TV set
1. Turn on the TV set.
2. Insert USB Memory with Data to USB Terminal.
On-screen Display will be appeared according to the Data folder automatically.
3. Input a following password for (a) or (b) by using remote control.
(a) For Board replacement: 2771
(b) For Hotel: 4851
Data will be copied from USB Memory to TV set.
4. After the completion of copying to USB Memory, remove USB Memory from TV set.
(a) For Board replacement: Data will be deleted after copying (Limited one copy).
(b) For Hotel: Data will not be deleted and can be used for other TVs.
5. Turn off the TV set.
Note:
1. Depending on the failure of boards, function of Data for board replacement does not work.
2. This function can be effective among the same model numbers.
Self Check
How to access
Self-check indication only:
While pressing [VOLUME ( - )] button on the main unit, press [OK] button on the remote control.
Self-check indication and forced to factory shipment setting:
While pressing [VOLUME ( - )] button on the main unit, press [MENU] button on the remote control for more than 3 seconds.
How to exit
Switch off the power with the [POWER] button on the main unit.
LCD Panel Test Mode
Purpose
To find the possible failure point where in LCD Panel or Printed Circuit Board when the abnormal picture is displayed.
How to Enter
While pressing [VOLUME ( - )] button of the main unit, press [YELLOW] button of the remote control three times.
How to Exit
Switch off the power with the [POWER] button on the main unit or the [POWER] button on the remote control.
How to confirm
If the abnormal picture is displayed, go into LCD Panel test mode to display the several test patterns.
And then, judge by the following method.
Still abnormal picture is displayed: The cause must be in LCD Panel.
Normal picture is displayed: The cause must be in A board.
Remarks
The test pattern is created by the circuit in LCD Panel.
In LCD Panel test mode, this test pattern is displayed unaffected by signal processing for RF or input signal.
If the normal picture is displayed, LCD Panel must be okay and the cause of failure must be in A board.

Power LED blinking codes
When abnormality has occurred the unit, the protection circuit operates and reset to the stand by mode. At this time, the defective block can be identified by number of blinking of the Power LED on the front panel of the unit.

SOFTWARE UPDATING
MAIN SOFTWARE UPDATE 
In MB70 project you can update the main IC software by using USB ports. You can find the SW update procedure below.
1. Software files should copy directly inside of a flash memory(not in a folder).
2. Put flash memory to the tv when tv is powered off.
3. Power on the and wait. TV will power-up itself.
4. If First Time Installition screen comes, it means software update procedure is succesful.
5. You can check the SW release name from service menu.
PANEL CONFIGURATION UPDATE 
In MB70 project you can update the panel Configuration file by using USB ports. You can find the update procedure below.
1. Please copy panel configuration files to USB root.
2. Turn power to OFF by remote controler and plug the USB to TV.
3. Turn power to ON by using remote controler.
4. TV standby led will blink rapidly during the sw update. Please wait approximately for 1-2 minutes.
5. TV will open automatically with the new panel configurations.
STANDBY MICRO CONTROLLER SOFTWARE UPDATE 
1. Please copy Standby micro-controller file to USB root.
2. You have to use Service Menu for standby micro-controller files update.
3. To access the service menu push “menu” button and enter the password “4725” while menu icons are on screen.
4. Plug the USB to TV.
5. Please choose “USB Operations” tab to update standby-micro sw file by using remote controler.
6. Please wait approximately for 30 second
TROUBLESHOOTING
NO BACK LIGHT
Problem: If TV is working, led is normal and there is no picture and backlight on the panel.
Possible couses: Backlight pin, dimming pin, backlight supply, stby on/off pin
BACKLIGHT_ON/OFF pin should be high when the backlight is ON. R185 must be low when the backlight is OFF. If it is a problem, please check Q131 and the panel cables.
Dimming pin should be high or square wave in open position. If it is low, please check S32
for BRCM side and panel or power cables, connectors.
STBY_ON/OFF_NOT should be high for standby condition, please check R203.
CI MODULE PROBLEM 
Problem: CI is not working when CI module inserted.
Possible couses: Supply, suply control pin, detect pins, mechanical positions of pins. 50
CI supply should be 5V when CI module inserted. If it is not 5V please check
CI_PWR_CTRL, this pin should be low.
Please check mechanical position of CI module. Is it inserted properly or not?
Detect ports should be low. If it is not low please check CI connector pins, CI module pins
STAYING IN STANDBY MODE
Problem: Staying in stand-by mode, no other operation
This problem indicates a short on Vcc voltages. Protect pin should be logic high while normal operation. When there is a short circuit protect pin will be logic low. If you detect logic low on protect pin, unplug the TV set and control voltage points with a multimeter to find the shorted voltage to ground.
IR PROBLEM
Problem: LED or IR not working
Check LED card supply on MB70 chasis.
KEYPAD TOUCH PAD PROBLEM
Problem: Keypad or Touchpad is not working
USB PROBLEM
Problem: USB is not working or no USB Detection.
Check USB Supply, It should be nearly 5V. Also USB Enable should be logic high.
NO SOUND PROBLEM
Problem: No audio at main TV speaker outputs.
Check supply voltages of VDD_AUDIO, 8V_VCC and 12V_VCC with a voltage-meter. There may be a problem in headphone connector or headphone detect circuit (when headphone is connected, speakers are automatically muted). Measure voltage at HP_DETECT pin, it should be 3.3v.
STANDBY ON OFF PROBLEM
Problem: Device can not boot, TV hangs in standby mode.
There may be a problem about power supply. Check main supplies with a voltage-meter. Also there may be a problem about SW. Try to update TV with latest SW. Additionally it is good to check SW printouts via Teraterm. These printouts may give a clue about the problem. You can use Scart-1 for terraterm connection.
NO SIGNAL
Problem: No signal in TV mode.
Check tuner supply voltage; 5V_TUN. Check tuner options are correctly set in Service menu.
Check AGC voltage at RF_AGC pin of tuner.
SERVICE MODE 
In order to reach service menu, First Press “MENU” buton, then write “4725” by using remote controller.
You can see the service menu main screen below. You can check SW releases by using this menu. In addition, you can make changes on video, audio etc. by using video settings, audio settings titles.

User can still edit the Serial Number.
MODEL NUMBER SETTING
1) In “Service Mode”, select “Model Information” by pressing “UP” or “DOWN” then pressing “Enter” or “RIGHT” button to enter inside.
2) Select “Model Number Setting” by pressing “UP” or “DOWN” button then pressing “Enter” or “RIGHT” button.
3) Press “UP” or “DOWN” arrow key to scroll Product Name Candidate.
(e.g. KDL-40X500B CO1,KDL-40X500C BR6)
4) Select one Product Name from the list, press <Enter> will pop dialog to inform user to confirm data. Model dependent settings will be overwritten into EEPROM.
WB ADJUSTMENT
(Please apply when main board or panel is replaced.)
In “Panel/PQ” service mode.
a. Go to “WB Adjustment” category by “UP” or “DOWN”.
b. To select “WB Adjustment”, press “RIGHT” button.
c. To change data , press “LEFT” or “RIGHT” on remote commander.
WB/MURA/CUC DATA TRANSFER
(Please apply when main board or panel is replaced.)
1. In “Panel/PQ” service mode.
a. Go to “WB/Mura/CUC data transfer” category by “UP” or “DOWN”.
b. To select “WB/Mura/CUC data transfer”, press “RIGHT” button.
c. To change data , press “LEFT” or “RIGHT” on remote commander.
2. In “WB/Mura/CUC data transfer”.
a. Select “WB/Gamma data transfer” by pressing “UP” or “DOWN” on remote commander.

HDD PERFORMANCE CHECK
1. In “Service Mode”, select “General Setting” by pressing “UP” or “DOWN” then pressing “Enter” or “RIGHT” button to enter inside.
2. Select “HDD Performance check ” by pressing “UP” or “DOWN” then pressing “Enter” or “RIGHT” button to enter inside.
3. A message "Please wait ..." is displayed during performance check processing.
4. Result OK or NG will be displayed after performance of HDD is checked.
HDD RE-REGISTRATION
1) In “Service Mode”, select “General Setting” by pressing “UP” or “DOWN” then pressing “Enter” or “RIGHT” button to enter inside.
2) Select “AAA” by pressing “UP” or “DOWN” then pressing “Enter” or “RIGHT” button to enter inside.

DIAGNOSTIC TEST INDICATORS
When an error occurs, the Smart Core Red LED will flash a set number of times to indicate the possible cause of the problem.
If there is more than one error, the LED will identify the first of the problem areas.

SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SCREEN DISPLAY
For errors with symptoms such as “power sometimes shuts off” or “screen sometimes goes out” that cannot be confirmed, it is possible to bring up past occurrences of failure for confirmation on the screen:
To Bring Up Screen Test
In standby mode, press buttons on the remote commander sequentially in rapid succession as shown below:
DISPLAY > CHANNEL 5> VOLUME - >POWER ON
Since the diagnostic results displayed on the screen are not automatically cleared, always check the self-diagnostic screen.
After you have completed the repairs, clear the result display to “0”.
